Cookie & Tracking Policy

This Cookie & Tracking Policy explains how QTOpro (by LTplus AG) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and application. We want to be transparent about what is collected and give you control over your preferences.

1. What Are Cookies and Tracking Technologies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, smartphone, etc.) by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the site owners. Cookies can be "first-party" (set by our domain) or "third-party" (set by another domain through our site, such as an analytics or chat provider).

We also use technologies similar to cookies, such as local storage and session storage (which are storage areas in your browser), and pixel tags or scripts that help with analytics. In this policy, we use "cookies" to refer broadly to all these types of technologies.

Cookies can be session cookies (which expire once you close your browser) or persistent cookies (which remain on your device for a set period or until deleted). They can also be categorized by purpose, as described below.

2. Cookies We Use

We aim to use a minimal number of cookies on QTOpro. Currently, we use the following categories:

  • Essential Cookies: These are necessary for the website/app to function properly and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you, such as logging in or filling in forms. Without these cookies, services you have asked for (like maintaining your login session) cannot be provided.
    • Example: We set a secure session cookie after you log in, which keeps you logged in as you navigate the app. This cookie contains an encrypted token linking to your account session on our servers. It has a short lifespan and is required for authentication.
  • Preference Cookies: These cookies allow our site to remember choices you make (such as your language or region, or UI settings) and provide enhanced, more personalized features. If we use such cookies, it is to improve your experience.
    • Current status: We might use local storage to save certain user preferences (for example, your last used project or a UI theme selection) so that it persists between visits. These are first-party and only used for your convenience.
  • Analytics Cookies/Trackers: These help us understand how visitors interact with our website by collecting and reporting information anonymously. We use them to improve the performance and user experience of QTOpro. We do not use any third-party marketing or advertising cookies. Our analytics setup is as follows:
    • Vercel Analytics: This is a built-in analytics feature from our hosting provider. It does not use cookies at all. Instead, it collects aggregate request counts, timing, and browser info for a very short period (24 hours) to show us trends in site usage. All data is anonymized and cannot be traced back to individual users.
    • "PostHog Analytics:" We use PostHog (which we host or run in a privacy-oriented way) to track usage events within the app (like which features are used most). PostHog can use a cookie or local storage to identify if the same user returns, but we have configured it not to capture personal identifiers. If a cookie is used, it would be only for analytics and only set if you opt-in (for EU users). PostHog data helps us spot problems and improve features by seeing user flows, but it's primarily internal data.
  • "Other Third-Party Tools:" Currently, we do not embed third-party content that sets cookies (such as YouTube videos, social media widgets, etc.). If that changes, we will update this policy. We do integrate Stripe for payments, but Stripe's payment widget might set cookies necessary for fraud prevention or remembering your card details between attempts – those would be considered essential for payment processing.

3. Your Consent and Choices

When you first visit our site (from an EU/EEA or jurisdiction requiring consent), you will see a cookie consent banner. This banner allows you to "Accept" or "Reject" non-essential cookies. It also provides a link to this policy for more details. We do not set or use non-essential cookies/trackers (like PostHog) unless you opt in by clicking "Accept" on the banner.

  • "Accepting Cookies:" If you click "Accept" on the banner, you consent to the use of analytics cookies as described. This will enable full functionality of our analytics tools, helping us improve the service.
  • "Rejecting Cookies:" If you click "Reject," we will not load analytics cookies or trackers. You can still fully use the essential features of QTOpro. No optional cookies will be set, and we will only operate with the essential cookies needed for the service to run.
  • Granular Control: The banner (or a linked preferences page) may also offer a granular control interface where you can toggle specific categories (e.g., you might choose to allow preference cookies but not analytics, etc.).

If you dismiss the banner without making a choice, by default we will treat that as a "Reject" for optional cookies (no analytics will run) until you explicitly consent. We aim to follow the guidance of European Data Protection authorities (e.g., no pre-ticked boxes, a "Reject" option as easy as "Accept", etc.).

Changing Your Settings: You can change your cookie preferences at any time. If you already set a preference and want to adjust it, you might find a "Cookie Settings" link in our website footer or your account settings where you can revisit the choices. Additionally, most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings (you can block or delete cookies). However, note that blocking essential cookies via your browser might hinder your ability to log in or use the Service.

4. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

"Do Not Track" (DNT) is a setting in most browsers that allows you to express your preference not to be tracked across websites. Similarly, Global Privacy Control (GPC) is a mechanism to indicate privacy preferences. We respect these signals for analytics: if we detect a DNT or GPC signal, we will not load optional analytics scripts for that session, regardless of consent status (as an extra precaution). Keep in mind, DNT/GPC does not affect essential cookies.

5. Cookie List

For transparency, here's a list of cookies and similar storage items you may encounter on QTOpro, and their purpose:

  • __Host-qtopro-session (Example name) – Type: HTTP Cookie, first-party, essential. Purpose: Maintains your login session securely. Lifetime: Session (deleted when you log out or close browser).
  • "qtopro_remember" – Type: HTTP Cookie or local storage, first-party, preference. Purpose: Remembers a user preference or setting (for example, whether you dismissed a tutorial). Lifetime: A few days to a few months, varies by what it's storing.
  • phc_<random> (PostHog cookie) – Type: HTTP Cookie, first-party, analytics (optional). Purpose: If enabled, used by PostHog to group events by the same user for analytics insights. It contains a random identifier (not personal info). Lifetime: 1 year (reset on new visits).
  • Vercel Analytics – (No cookie). This uses server-side logging and does not place a cookie on your device.

(This list may be updated as our usage changes. Some cookies might only be set in certain flows, e.g., if using Stripe checkout, Stripe may set cookies like __stripe_mid for fraud prevention – those would be third-party, essential for payment.)

6. Third-Party Websites

Our site may include links to other websites or services with their own cookie and privacy practices (for example, a link to our documentation or a help forum). This Cookie Policy does not apply to those external sites. We encourage you to read the privacy/cookie policies of any site you visit via links from our service.

7. Updates to this Policy

We may revise this Cookie & Tracking Policy from time to time as we add new features or as laws change. We will post any changes on this page and update the "last updated" date. If changes are significant, we may provide a more prominent notice or seek consent for material changes where required.

Last Updated: Sept. 2 2025

By continuing to use our site after any changes come into effect, you acknowledge the updated Policy.
